Cucumber Gimlet Recipe
A few weeks ago my boyfriend and I went out to dinner at a restaurant here in Nashville called 5th & Taylor. First off, this place is amazing. It has such a great atmosphere and every single thing we ate was delicious. At dinner we had their “cucumber gimlet” cocktail and loved it. It was so light and refreshing.
I always love to take pictures of menus at restaurants to try and MacGyver a similar recipe at home. Obvi, most restaurants don’t give away their exact recipes, so this takes a little trial and error.
I took a photo of the vague menu ingredients (cucumber juice, ginger, vodka) and then tried to recreate. Had me feeling like Plankton trying to recreate the Krabby Patty recipe. Took a few different tweaks, BUT I NAILED IT.
Recipe and directions for two drinks below. Cheers!
CUCUMBER GIMLET: Makes 2 drinks
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup chopped cucumber (peeled or not)
1 tsp minced ginger - (can buy frozen cubes from Trader Joe’s or lightly dried ginger at most stores) Fresh is always ideal, but I have been using the lightly dried to make it easy and it tastes delish!
1-1.5 tbsp agave
1/4 cup lime juice
1/2 cup ice cold water or handle full of ice cubes
4oz vodka (most gimlets are made with gin, so feel free to use whichever you prefer)
DIRECTIONS
In a blender or food processor mix together the chopped cucumber, ginger, agave, lime juice, and cold water/ice.
Strain the juice through a fine mesh strainer directly into a cocktail shaker.
Add ice and vodka to the shaker and shake it up!
Pour into a chilled glass or directly over ice. I like to pour it over one large round ice cube for a cool vibe. Here is the sphere cube tray I use to make these ice cubes!
Garnish with thinly sliced cucumber.
