Jacq's Morning Skincare Routine
My skincare routine rotates through products every now and then, but the basics stay the same. For those who are new, my mom is a dermatologist (we call her DermMom), so all my products I pass through her and I am constantly bombarding her for skincare tips and product recommendations. I have pretty normal to slightly combo skin, so this routine works for me, but I do want to emphasize that just because it works for me doesn’t mean everything will be the same on your face. Everyone’s skin is different and its great to try new products to find what works best for you. If you are ever in doubt, just talk to a dermatologist! They obvi know best. If you are in the Bay Area, hit up my mom! She rocks. Dr. Fisher at Dermatology Associates of the Bay Area.

Now let’s get down to it. First thing in the morning, I like to splash my face with cold water to wake myself and my skin up. If I am feeling extra puffy I will use my ice-roller for a few minutes. I don’t fully rewash my face in the morning because I cleansed it the night before and want to keep some of the natural oils on my skin to keep it hydrated. Then I take my medication (Lexapro + Birth Control) and drink a FULL glass of water with it. Sometimes I do this after I finish all my skincare, but either way bright and early in the morning. Starting my day with a big glass of water keeps me hydrated from the inside out and encourages me to want to drink more throughout the day. I definitely see a difference in my skin when I have been good about staying hydrated.
SIDE NOTE: I am pretty good about sticking to this routine, but there is no way I am perfect. I’m a lazy bitch a lot of the time and won’t do the whole thing even though it legit takes less than five minutes total. If I am half assing it the two products I always stick with are a Vitamin C serum and SUNSCREEN. No matter how lazy I NEVER skip sunscreen. It is the key for protecting and keeping your skin youthful.
When applying products go in order of least dense to the most dense. The thicker products help trap in the moisture of your oils/serums.
SERUM
SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic serum. This is probably the most expensive product I use, but by far my absolute favorite and my MUST HAVE. It was a DermMom recommendation and I have yet to find anything that I think is better. I only use about 4-5 drops and gently pat/rub all over my face, neck, and any extra on the back of my hands. It has vitamin C and E to protect your skin against environmental damage. It helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles while leaving your skin feeling a lot more firm and has powerful brightening effects. It also really helps keep my Melasma (hyperpigmentation) under control if I use it consistently. This is by far the product I would recommend most and personally I think it is worth every penny.
Another Vitamin C serum I like is DRUNK ELEPHANT C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum.
UNDER EYES
I switch off between these two products.
Farmacy - Cheer up Brightening Vitamin C Eye Cream with Acerola Cherry. Farmacy is one of my favorite skincare brands. They consistently make products filled with only clean and natural ingredients that are still super potent. This cream smells amazing and instantly makes you feel refreshed. The Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid helps to hydrate, brighten, and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. I like to put this under my eyes, a little on my brow bone and sometimes my upper lip + smile lines for an extra oomph of firmness and hydration. I only use a small amount and gently pat it on with my ring finger for the lightest amount of pressure because your under eyes are the thinnest and most sensitive skin area.
Cocokind Mymatcha All Over Moisturizer Stick. This product is a new favorite of mine and super versatile. It saved my skin when I had a bunch of dry spots with the weather change. You can use it under your eyes to help reduce dark circles and puffiness, on your lips as a chapstick, or as a spot treatment for any extra dry areas. It is made from simple, organic ingredients and has a gentle yummy matcha smell.
HYDRATION SERUM
DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum. I mix a couple pumps of this serum with whatever face sunscreen I use for an extra boost of hydration throughout the day. Its full of pro-vitamins and Sodium Hyaluronate which helps to keep in moisture and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Lasts a long time too because I only use about a pea size amount each time.
SUNSCREEN
DRUNK ELEPHANT - Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30. I love the texture of this sunscreen because it goes on thick and feels very hydrating, but doesn’t leave any leftover white residue. I always use at least SPF 30 and check for Zinc Oxide in the ingredients which is a main ingredient to prevent damage from UV rays and good for all skin types. Sunscreen is always my last step to make sure everything else is locked in and its the top layer against any environmental rays and damage.
Other face sunscreens I love are Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer and Goop’s Play Everyday Lotion.
