Get Your Backyard Summer Ready with Jo
Hiii, it’s Jo! Welcome back to our blog. It’s fun to share more in depth content on here :) Although May Gray has officially transitioned to June Gloom, that hasn’t stopped me from spending as much time as I possibly can in our backyard.
When we first moved into this house in the summer of 2021, the yard was a big pile of dirt, weeds and some old concrete. We spent months designing and remodeling our backyard last year so we could maximize the space and host outside more often. Backyard BBQ’s and outdoor hangs remind me of growing up in Seattle, soaking up the summer days into the nights when it stays light until 9pm - it’s special to share my home with our friends and family on warm summer evenings with a vibey playlist (one of our favs here), & home cooked food + wine. It fills my cup!
Our home has been a labor of love, but we have recently added all the finishing touches to the yard by getting some new furniture, installing a hot tub and adding smaller details like an umbrella, candles, string lights, etc to cultivate the vibe; a space that feels like our own little resort while still being an inviting extension of our home.
As for new furniture, we wanted items that were budget-friendly but still looked high-end. Since we travel a lot, we simply don’t have the time or patience to maintain and take care of overly $$$ furniture so it didn’t seem like a good investment for us personally. Disclaimer that we’ve only had the lounge furniture for a few months so the pieces haven’t made it through a full season yet, but we are really happy with our purchases currently.
I’ll link all of the specific furniture items below.
Furniture:
Outdoor Metal Chairs + Wicker Chairs
Umbrella (you’ll need to get a stand for it)
Barstools - purchase in store at “At Home” in Costa Mesa. Linked similar here!
Fire Pit - this is from a wholesaler in OC called Huntington Beach Fire Pits
**The World Market Segovia furniture set has mixed reviews online about quality but we haven’t had any issues yet. We have not used for a full season yet, however, we always protect the sofa and lounge chairs with a large furniture cover if we’re not using which I highly recommend.
Decor, Lighting & More
